Mold Remediation

Due to the growing concern of the negative effects of mold contamination in your indoor environment, Sinclaire Enterprises has created a benchmark of excellence in structural mold remediation in commercial and residential properties. The work methods implemented by Sinclaire are performed to the most current standards published by the Institute of Inspection, Cleaning, and Restoration Certification (IICRC) in the Standard and Reference Guide S520. A remediation project generally begins with the preliminary investigation performed by a third party, in most cases an Indoor Environmental Professional (IEP). The IEP shall be an individual or individuals that perform an assessment of the fungal contamination of the structures, systems and contents at the property. The IEP should also create a strategy, sampling the indoor environment, to determine what actions need to be taken, to return the property to a Condition 1 (normal fungal ecology) status. Once the assessment has been communicated to Sinclaire, we can apply the recommendations to a remediation strategy, utilizing engineering controls, containment strategies, actual mold removal, and surface treatment (HEPA vacuuming, sanitizing, and encapsulating). Following the remediation project, a post-remediation verification will be performed by an IEP, which may include visual and/or sampling methodologies to verify that the structures, systems and contents have been returned to a Condition 1 status.

Mold Remediation FAQ

I suspect mold in my home, what should I do?
We work with laboratories and testing facilities that test the air quality and/or suspect areas in your home. If contamination is found, we will design a remediation plan using the lab’s results and recommendations.

Does Sinclaire Air and Duct perform mold testing?
We feel that being a remediation company and a testing company would be a conflict of interest. Also, recently passed legislature, in states such as Texas and Florida prohibit remediation companies from performing their own testing.

If I spray bleach on the mold, will it get rid of my problem?
It may kill the visible mold, but in doing so you could cause it to become air born and spread to other areas of your home.

I have a damp basement with a musty, moldy odor and have noticed some mold growth on some of my cardboard storage boxes. If I put a dehumidifier in my basement, will it get rid of my mold?
It could dry your basement creating conditions that will not support additional mold growth; however, it will not kill or get rid of your mold.

If Sinclaire performs a remediation project at my home, how can I be sure that it was successful?
We require a third-party testing company to perform clearance testing providing you with proof that our remediation was successful.

How do you ensure that the mold will not spread during a remediation project?
We utilize negatively pressurized containments similar to that of asbestos containments As we disturb the mold in the contaminated areas, the mold spores that have become air born will be captured in our HEPA filtered, negative air machines. Also, any materials that will be removed from the containment will be bagged and sealed in a 6 mil poly bags.
